Weekly Lesson Reading Test |
| DIRECTIONS: 1) Write the week's reading words on the board so they can be seen by all students. 2) Review the words one last time (stressing the sounds made by the letters). 3) Use the "Definition Clue" procedure for testing true reading mastery as this is not a spelling test. A "definition clue" example would be something like - "Which WEDNESDAY word means -"a large white headed bird?" - After allowing 30 seconds for students to find and write the correct word (which in this case would be - eagle), you should call on one student to say the correct answer. You'll find the "Definition Clue" technique dramatically increases interest and motivation, while providing immediate feedback for increased memorization. Also, once the correct answer is given - this makes it easier for other students (who were unable to find the word) to locate the correct answer. 4) Use numbers 29 and 30 for review of the most difficult words from the previous week. |
