Classroom Activity
This picture may look like the coloring activity above but it's actually
quite different. While the coloring worksheet above doesn't have any
letters on the eggs - this one does. Here's how it works.
The letters "ch" are placed on each of the eggs in
the picture. However, the chicken stayed up late while
writing on the eggs and made several mistakes. For instance,
some eggs say - "hc" - "sh" - "th" -
"wh" and other combinations. Now tonight, the Chocolate
Chicken wants to go back and color the eggs which spell "ch"
correctly with the colors blue or green and color all incorrectly
spelled eggs with either the color orange or purple. So pass out
this worksheet to all students and have them help Mrs. Chocolate Chicken
by coloring in the Easter Eggs correctly. Add up the totals and
write the correct answer next to her tail. This is a highly
motivational activity since children love to see if they were "smart
enough" to find the correct and incorrect letters. After
completion, go over together as a class and you'll be impressed with
their enthusiasm. Click the image at upper left for a quick loading HTML
version of the worksheet. |
Cut
Outs
3 "ch" sounds on one 8x11 paper. Letters are large enough to easily be seen 30 feet across the
room. Print 2 or more copies - cut out the words and place around the classroom,
hallways, on your "Word of the Day" hat - anywhere that can attract attention.
Also makes excellent flash cards.

Oversize
Teaching Letters
One letter per 8x11 paper and
our oversize Chocolate Chicken will help
your student(s) remember this important
(and difficult) digraph sound - "ch." (Digraphs are two letters which come together to make one sound.) By
associating the "ch" sound with a humorous name such as Chocolate
Chicken, the child
will be much more apt to remember the sound. If your student ever does forget the sound of
"ch" - just look them in the eye and say - "Chocolate Chicken" - in 1
second the child will laugh and say the correct sound. The letters should be taped
onto the classroom board - wall - or to a special Word of the Day stand
for daily teaching and reminding. |
