HELLO This popular test shows the primary skills a kindergarten child should know by the end of the school year (or we could say all the skills a child should know when beginning 1st grade). The sheet has been written to fit on one 8x11 paper making it very convenient to monitor a child's progress and to show parents as the year progresses. Another important point, this test (taking only about 12 minutes to administer) should be given to every child in 1st grade within 2 weeks after school begins.
This provides highly useful information since it can quickly identify essential skills that the child did not learn. These weak areas can then be written on a 3x5 card and taped with scotch tape on the top corner of the child's desk. This individualized approach is extremely effective since the teacher or assistants can use the card to "quiz" the child at different times during the day. The card information can also be used to help guide tutoring activities. |
